Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti joked that even Pep Guardiola will get the sack one day if he stays in football management.
Guardiola’s future at the Etihad Stadium was in doubt earlier this season when he had not extended his contract which was set to expire at the end of the campaign. However in November, the Catalan coach penned a two-year deal which will keep him at City until 2025.
Ancelotti suggests ‘even Pep’ Guardiola will get the sack one day as he reflects on Gennaro Gattuso’s departure from Valencia ahead of LaLiga clash
Valencia are in turmoil as they visit the current champions. Gattuso became the 10th coach to leave club in the last nine years on Monday night when he left after taking charge of just 22 matches.
‘It’s a reality for coaches,’ said Ancelotti. ‘We all get fired, except Guardiola but even Pep if he continues to work even he will get the sack one day. It has happened to me in my career but I am still here.’
