‘Bruno knows ball’, ‘Bring him to the Etihad’ – Man City fans react PL star label Guardiola a ‘genius’ and the ‘greatest coach in history’

Pep Guardiola has been labelled a ‘genius’ and the ‘the greatest coach in history’ by Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, amid reports of the club’s interest in the Brazilian International.

Guardiola’s side won 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium yesterday thanks to goals from Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva, but the visitors had had enough chances to win the game themselves.

And Guardiola labelled midfielder Bruno Guimaraes as a “top-class” player in his post-match press conference.

Bruno Guimaraes in return has labelled Pep Guardiola as a ‘genius’ and the ‘the greatest coach in history’ of football.

The 25-year-old was speaking following City’s massive win against Newcastle at the Etihad Stadium, leaving the Magpies four points off Tottenham for that final top-four spot.

“For me, he [Pep Guardiola] is a genius, the greatest coach in history,” Guimaraes said via ESPN Brasil.

These Guimaraes’ comments gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.

@MakhzoumyM: “He knows Football”

@SharkBait91: “Bruno knows ball”

@ErlingRoIe: “The amount of players that say this about Pep is crazy. Never see players say this for Ferguson, Mourinho, Ancelotti etc as much as him. Pep is the 🐐.”

@SakaHaleEnd7: “Cause Pep changed the game that’s why he is the best manager of all time imo”

@7harry: “He’s twerking for a move Txiki please make it happen.”

@nathan_ie01: “Bring him to the Etihad”

Guimaraes’ comments could come as telling for some, with 90min reporting that Pep Guardiola’s side are one of many top Premier League clubs tracking the Newcastle star, who is yet to sign a new contract with the club and to confirm his long-term ambitions with Eddie Howe’s side.

And with the Brazilian now lauding Guardiola as a genius and the best manager football has ever seen, the small chance that Guimaraes could join City could now snowball into something as we head into the summer transfer window, with the Manchester giants in need of a central midfielder.

Indeed, Ilkay Gundogan is currently tipped to leave City once his contract comes to an end this summer, with Bernardo Silva’s future also up in the air amid growing interest from Barcelona. And Guimaraes could be perfect for Guardiola’s side for next season.

The Brazilian international has been one of the best signings a Premier League side has made in the last 12 months, with the Newcastle man transforming the midfield into a cohesive unit and elevating Howe’s side to a level few would have expected so soon in the club’s PIF era.
