‘Give it time vinnie’, ‘don’t sell yourself short’ – Man City fans react as Kompany insists he’s ‘way down rankings’ to replace Guardiola

Vincent Kompany claims he’s not the right man to replace Pep Guardiola as Manchester City manager right now, as he is focused on the job with Burnley.

Pep Guardiola, who is under contract until 2025, recently said he felt it was Kompany’s destiny to become City manager in the future.

City’s victory over Bristol City in the FA Cup fifth-round set up a reunion between Kompany and his former manager, with whom he celebrated two Premier League titles, two League Cups and an FA Cup triumph.

While Kompany was one of many names mooted for the City job, the Belgian has chose to focus on his own personal improvement, saying he is not yet qualified to manage City in the near future.

“I think City should always have the best manager in the world nobody else and that is not me,” Kompany said in a press conference.

“So focus is just Burnley getting better and we will see. They have the best manager in the world today and I hope he stays for another 10 years and if not they should have the best manager in the World after Pep. From my side I am way down the ranking.”

These Kompany’s comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

@mcfcIeo_: “Well for a start you’re bald so it will be very soon, obviously you’re too humble to actually say that.”

@BernardoTouch: “Give it time vinnie.”

@godri_mcfc: “Soon you’ll be the best manager Vinnie!”
