‘He is rusty right now anyways’ – Man City react as club officials CANCEL contract talks with first-team star

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club officials have cancelled talks with Kyle Walker over a contract extension.

Reports over the last 24 hours have been rife after released CCTV footage appeared to show Walker “exposing himself in a Manchester bar” on Wednesday – and Cheshire Police are now investigating the matter.

City, who gave their players two days off after the Newcastle victory, have refused to address the scandal publicly yesterday, insisting his behaviour was a personal matter.

While Manchester City do not intend to hand Walker a fine or suspend him based on what they have seen, it now appears as though greater damage has been done to his Etihad career.

According to the Sun, Manchester City officials have now cancelled talks with Kyle Walker over a contract extension.

It is suggested that the 32 year-old right-back was due to hold talks with officials on Wednesday in a bid to extend his Manchester City contract beyond the current expiry date of June 2024.

A source as per the report said the Manchester City defender appeared more concerned that the investigation would derail a deal than the threat of court.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

@OluSaltz: “This is getting serious. Damn.”

@callmearchers: “Would suggest that the situation is quite bad, but it is the Sun so I wouldn’t really trust it”

@karimmcfc: “The Sun as a source so it’s complete bollocks.”

@lon_nol101: “He is rusty right now anyways. We should go for a good RB.”

@lordsalty57: “Rightly so, he’s declining thats for sure.. Then there’s this antic behaviour off the pitch that already happened twice, and that was not appropriated at all..”

@nwanneka_omeche: “We are really going to have a complete overhaul of the squad next summer”

@NordicHaaland: “So now we will need a RB, LB, 2 midfielders, and a RW in the summer.”

@TheFanOpinion: “Now we’re gonna be thin at RB.”

@johnnydejesus: ”It’ll be typical of this Board to now load up at LB…. Then leave Rico by himself at RB forcing Stones and Akanji to play there .”
