‘Madrid are delusional’, ‘Erling ain’t going anywhere’ – Man City fans as La Liga giants considering an audacious transfer swoop for Haaland

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Real Madrid are considering an audacious move for Erling Haaland this summer.

Haaland signed for the Cityzens only last summer, arriving from Borussia Dortmund. The Norwegian international has made a devastating impact in his debut season in the Premier League.

While Haaland has scored a remarkable 27 goals in 25 games so far in the league, it has come in the context of wider debate over whether he has actually made the team better.

Now, according to the Independent, it seems that Real could try to capitalise on that, while they could also use the club’s alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play (FFP) to sow doubts in the player’s mind

According to Journalist Miguel Delaney Writting for the Independent, Real Madrid are now considering an audacious move for Erling Haaland this summer, as part of a plan that would also see them recruit Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.

It is claimed that while Real Madrid club president Florentino Perez was initially expected to delay any such move for the Manchester City striker until the summer of 2024, he is now at least willing to test the situation as well as the Premier League champions’ resolve.

The report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.

@chousintern: “Madrid are delusional, they think they’re signing Mbappe, Haaland and Maradona this summer”

@JackMCI_: “my man ain’t going anywhere”

@melvinjtk: “What would have been the point of Haaland coming to City then? Make it make sense.”

@mickf1v8: “I remember when they said the same about Aguero every year, look what happened..”

@kobserving11: “It would be hilarious if he just ran away from the PL after ONE szn..”

@XeonBlue9: “Let him go for a huge price. Anyways playing with him is like playing with 10 players.”

@CastilloErling9: “If Haaland stays, great. If he leaves we get a hefty transfer fee and we already have Alvarez, seems like a win/win to me.”

@rummaster19th: “It doesn’t help seeing the statements that Haaland’s agent has been making recently, buh we wait and see what happens. Hopefully he stays and City refuse to be bullied by Real..”
