PSG ‘plotting astonishing £175m raid for Man City star to partner Mbappe and more transfer rumours

Paris Saint-Germain are planning an astonishing £175m for Manchester City’s Erling Haaland to partner Kylian Mbappe for next season, according to latest reports.

Haaland signed for the Cityzens only last summer, arriving from Borussia Dortmund. The Norwegian international has made a devastating impact in his debut season in the Premier League.

While Haaland has scored a remarkable 28 goals in 26 games so far in the league, it has come in the context of wider debate over whether he has actually made the team better.

Now, it seems that PSG could try to capitalise on that. With the Champions League trophy remaining ever elusive, it seems Haaland has been earmarked as the answer to their problems.

According to French reporter Daniel Riolo, the Parisian club are exploring the options of pairing Haaland with Kylian Mbappe.

It’s claimed the French giants believe they can secure a deal to sign the Norwegian international amid rumours that Haaland is not happy in the Premier League with City, that’s despite the striker scoring an incredible 28 goals in the division this season.

As per the report, PSG are keen to sign a superstar attacker having once again failed to go the distance in the UEFA Champions League, and Haaland is being viewed as the ideal option given just how prolific the 22-year-old has been in recent years.

The media outlet points out that, although it is highly unlikely that City would let their star player leave just a year after signing him, PSG could consider paying Haaland’s exit clause, which is estimated at around €200 million (£175m), a figure lower than what they once paid for Neymar from FC Barcelona.

Elsewhere, Football Insider reports that City will be willing to offload Aymeric Laporte this summer if if they can secure a top-level replacement.

Laporte has made just six Premier League starts this season, struggling for regular minutes after previously being one of Guardiola’s first-choice defenders in the past. The Spain international is said to be deciding on his future between now and the end of the season, with a move away from the Etihad on the cards.

City have been linked to RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol in recent weeks and could allow Laporte to look elsewhere, should they secure a deal for the Croatian defender or someone of a similar ilk.

A number of clubs both in the Premier League and across Europe are said to be interested in the 28-year-old, with City ready to demand at least £40million, which is some way short of the £60million they paid for him in 2018.
