Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club could offer Joao Cancelo in exchange for Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry as manager Pep Guardiola looks for a goalscoring winger.
The Portugal international signed for the Bundesliga giants on a loan deal late in the January window, much to the surprise of City supporters.
After initially struggling for minutes in Germany, Cancelo has grown into his role at Bayern, with the player now thought to be open to remaining at the Allianz Arena.
This is according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, who claims the defender is warming to the idea of staying at Bayern, with a final decision to be made in the coming months.
It is believed that Pep Guardiola is willing to let Cancelo leave this summer despite putting in some memorable performances for City, playing a key role as the English club lifted two Premier League titles and a League Cup.
According to Fichajes, the out-of-favour Cancelo could be used as a makeweight in a deal to bring Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry to the Etihad.
A speedy winger, Gnabry has 12 goals and 11 assists this season and would be the first winger of his profile to play at City since the likes of Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane, who offered City serious pace down the flanks a few seasons ago.
The report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.
Gnabry to City, yes please

@BelGeneric: “This is terrible, I’d rather have Cancelo back, if they really want to do an exchange deal then Davies is the way to go but I doubt Bayern would let him go”
@MCFC_Erik: “Mid off, we should be pushing for Davies, he hasn’t extended yet”
@Waporte123: “We asking for the wrong winger ffs. ”
@itzuzii: “Swap deal with sane?”
@Brocroft2: “Give me Sane instead”
@ChristianTurto5: “Would rather have Sane back, but Gnarby is a better option than Cancelo coming back”
@Abu_Amal: “At this point I’d swap cancelo for anything from Bayern, if it means he stays there”
