‘Sell him incase he wants to leave’ – Man City fans react as Real Madrid line up Bernardo Silva as Jude Bellingham alternative

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Real Madrid are monitoring Bernardo Silva’s situation at the Etihad if they miss out on Jude Bellingham this summer.

Silva has been a key player for Manchester City since joining the club from AS Monaco, and he has helped them win several trophies during his time in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old was heavily linked with the move away from the Premier League club last summer as well. But Manchester City managed to keep him at the club.

Silva has shown his versatility this season in City’s fluid tactical system. From 25 appearances in the Premier League, he has scored four goals and provided five assists.

There have been a few claims recently that it could be his last season at the Etihad Stadium, with Barcelona continuing to circle.. By the summer, there will only be two years remaining on his contract.

Silva hasn’t made his itching desire for a new challenge a secret, which have contributed to City becoming fed up with the situation.

Pep Guardiola didn’t want to let him leave midway through the season. However, City are reportedly growing tired of what seems like an inevitable parting of ways.

In a meeting between Man City chiefs and Silva’s agent Jorge Mendes, director of football Txiki Begiristain is quoted by Sport to have said: “If you(Bernardo) want to go, go!”

Now however, it has been reported that Real Madrid could swoop in and secure the player this summer, providing one crucial factor goes in the direction that they seemingly do not want it to in an ideal world.

According to ESPN’s Rob Dawson and Rodrigo Faez, Real Madrid are monitoring Bernardo Silva’s situation at Manchester City in case they miss out in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham.

While the Portugal international remains under contract at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2025, and continues to be linked with potential moves to Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, the right offer could persuade Manchester City to sell.

ESPN report that while the 28 year-old is ‘happy’ at Manchester City, despite seeking a move in each of the last two transfer windows, the former AS Monaco and Benfica man expects to be allowed to leave for the right price in the coming months.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
