Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Southampton are targeting a transfer for youngster Carlos Borges.
The 19-year-old is ripping things apart for the Sky Blues’ U-21s side, registering an impressive 23 goals and 15 assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.
Borges, a winger by trade is considered as one of the most talented young players from City’s enviable academy, with youth scout Jacek Kulig likening him to Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby.
After swooping for Manchester City youngsters Romeo Lavia, Samuel Edozie, and Juan Larios last summer, Saints have been linked with another talented member of the reigning champions’ academy, Carles Borges.
According to Jacob Tanswell reporting for The Athletic, Southampton have an ‘ongoing’ interest in City attacker Borges.
The report claims that Saints scouts have closely followed the 18-year-old and that all parties are ‘likely to revisit’ the deal in the summer with the player himself interested in a move that could offer him first team opportunities.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@AkshatMCFC_47: “These guys again”
@Nichola86325882: “Oh no, i hope he gets a chance next season. ”
@DaveryXX: “Can they leave us alone? ”
@SxrgioSZN: “No no no can they just leave our talents alone”
@YakumiSarai: “If it’s a loan why not. Borges can surely take some learning periods in Premier League or Championship.”
@Rodriball16: “No way, how can we let go off such a good talent.”
@johnnydejesus_: “Dont mind our boys going to So’ton, we saw how good it was for Romeo Lavia to get proper playtime. Just need to make sure its for loans or if permanent, that they have buybacks”
@SHMCFC21: “Loan only so he gets game time in championship.”
@smile_pleas3: “I suppose it won’t be a sell, but a loan. And Southampton are no longer the only club, we will move our players for experience. I see Burnley to be a better option as they play a style similar to City and that should help. So, keep a look out for that.”
