Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Vincent Kompany could be set for a summer battle against his former club to keep on-loan centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis.
The 21 year-old England youth international has been a mainstay at the heart of Vincent Kompany’s Burnley defence, registering a staggering 29 appearances across all competitions so far this season.
It is understood that Clarets manager Vincent Kompany is hoping to keep Harwood-Bellis at the club and utilise him in the Premier League next season.
City are not believed to be willing to sell Harwood-Bellis and thus another loan move could be on the cards for the defender.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, the reigning Premier League Champions are set to offer Taylor Harwood-Bellis a new contract before deciding where the impressive young central defender will play next season.
It is stated that former club captain and current Burnley manager Vincent Kompany will try to keep Harwood-Bellis for the Turf Moor club’s anticipated return to the English top-flight next season.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@mancity_talk: “This makes sense. A chance to prove himself in the PL.”
@MwanjovuLeon: “Should keep this lad, very good with the ball and making those passes that break the lines. A premier league season at Burnley then we bring him back.”
@cleanlivin88SZN: “Need to keep him.”
@phadishi: “Give him another contract and send him back to burnley again.”
@AkeAppreciator: “Hope we let him go there, he’s class and at Burnley he’ll play week in week out learning from the best CB to ever play in the PL.”
@shaxxszn: “So underrated how good he is. Clearly premier League ready. Should play a season more with Burnley tho.”
@BTEC_Fabrizio: “Offer a 2 year deal with the hopes he will spend 2024 with Burnley under Kompany and play regularly in the prem. I think he is very able to take on the Akanji role in 2 years time.”
@OneEyedLycan: “Really want to see him given a chance at City but a year of regular PL football would do him the world of good. Plus by the 2024/25 season we might need a defensive refresh, which is when he could get his chance.”
