‘So good to hear’, ‘Anywhere but a Premier League team’ – Man City fans react to club’s stance on Joao Cancelo future

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club will look to sell Joao Cancelo this summer after he returns from his loan spell at Bayern Munich.

The Portugal international fell out with Pep Guardiola in January and was sent on loan having fallen behind youngster Rico Lewis in the Spaniard’s pecking order.

Cancelo made 11 starts under Tuchel and came on as a second half substitute in Saturday’s chaotic Bundesliga title decider against Koln.

Earlier this month he indicated he was delighted with the speed at which Cancelo had integrated and that the player appeared happy in Munich.

Bayern retain an option to make the former Juventus star’s move a permanent one at a cost of €70m but, according to Fabrizio Romano, they have opted against activating that clause.

That means Cancelo will return to City, but Romano has reported that the club are keen to sell him.

Arsenal are a side that could be interested, with Mikel Arteta keen to work with the Portugal international again.

Barcelona have also been linked, but as reported by Romano, the Spanish club’s financial situation could inhibit their ability to meet City’s asking price.

The report shared on Twitter gathered a number of replies from a wide range of Man City supporters.
