Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club is considering a future move for Musiala as a long-term replacement for Kevin De Bruyne.
De Bruyne is 32 now, and the Belgian has struggled with injuries recently. After picking up a hamstring injury in the Champions League final, he was then forced off in City’s Premier League opener this season, against Burnley in August.
De Bruyne’s injury record in the last few years has not exactly been stellar. There are fears he may not have too much longer left at the very top of his game.
City have recently put new contract talks with the 33-year-old on hold as a result of the long-term hamstring injury sustained against Burnley on the opening weekend of the new campaign.
Etihad chiefs are also reportedly preparing for the eventual departure of the Manchester City legend, with The Secret Scout claiming that Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala has been identified as the Belgian’s long-term successor.
As per the report, City will target the 20-year-old to replace De Bruyne, with Musiala directly involved in 32 goals for Bayern Munich across all competitions last season.
Branded as a ‘generational talent’ by Foot The Ball, the 20-year-old is an outstanding dribbler, sublime technically, a powerful ball-carrier and capable of producing end product.
The area of Musiala’s game that can improve is his final ball. However, under Pep Guardiola’s tutelage and with Kevin De Bruyne not getting any younger, this could prove to be a signing for the ages.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@Bruyne1Kev: “Sign him ASAP.”
@kieranbeardmore: “What a signing that’d be.”
@fdbmcfc: “Dream transfer but won’t happen”
@Yare Daze: “Literally nothing like KDB but I’d take him”
@D0NALDRAP3R: “Musiala under Pep will be crazy”
@Kelvinfoden12: “Jamal is good, but he can’t replace KDB”
@chikamsopaul36: “Absolutely will be a good signing. He can develop very well under Pep”
@EKatuta: “We will never get KDB replacement just like we will never have a David Silva replacement. Like Misiala though..”
@chikamsopaul36: “Trust me, and I’m not joking, he’s the best replacement for KDB in many things”
