‘Central to which plan?’, ‘Getting tired of this’, ‘let him go’ – Many Man City fans react as Journalist provides update on star forward

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays another update on the future of Raheem Sterling.

The 27-year-old England international could be the subject of transfer interest this summer, with clubs looking to capitalise on his devalued price, and he has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium in the last week.

The attacker’s current contract at the Etihad expires in 2023, meaning he could begin negotiations about a potential free move away from City in just nine months’ time, with the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham strongly speculated with making a move for him during the coming summer transfer window.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported last week that Man City would like to extend Raheem Sterling’s contract as soon as possible, with Pep Guardiola wanting the player to stay.

According to the latest information from ESPN, Sterling will hold more talks with the club over his future this summer.

The 27-year-old is making himself a central piece to City‘s plans before committing to a long-term deal. He would be open to exploring options abroad if he leaves.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Getting tired of this. This renewal is going on for 12/18 months with him now. I do wonder if him and the club really want this to continue. He wont be central to anything anymore..”

“If he is central to our future plans, that means we’re not a serious club.”

“If he was a clinical finisher, he’d be one of the best PL players. It’s a shame.”

“I know he missies easy chances but his downfall was due to a massive system change he played better with a striker Sane, Aguero, Sterling was our best front three, they were terrifying.”

“I want him to stay but he’s probably better off elsewhere. Xavi has been begging for him since he came back to Barcelona..”

“Honestly feel he’d be better with a recognised striker. Similar to when we had a front three of Sterling, Aguero, Leroy. Would be a shame to let him go without seeing how he works out with Haaland & Alvarez..”

“I’d personally want to see him perform next season with a proper ST like Haaland and Alvarez. His performances were amazing when Aguero was there and I feel without a ST, he got a lot of pressure being the best player infront of goal for us.”

“He struggles with gametime as it is now. Haaland, Alvarez, Foden, Mahrez, Bernardo. None of them will be benched for Sterling. Go on.”

“Sterling haters are funny cause I too was one until I started noticing that whenever Raheem was subbed off we all of a sudden just stopped creating anything. Like just keep him on the right and he’s great.”
